If I wasn't there to actually witness it I wouldn't have believed that this actually happened, but I was, and I still can't believe it. = One of my favorite bands one of my favorite shows, one of the finer moments in my life. In an earlier post I wrote about my studio visit to Gabbaland, and how I couldn't talk about the music guest, but the word is out now , so Here's the the full real (well sort of) story of Rocket from the Crypt on Yo Gabba Gabba!

Got to chill today with the Plex, Toadee, Muno, Brobee, and Foofa in Gabbaland along with the rest of the Yo Gabba Gabba family, there were also some other pretty amazing guests including Matthew Gray Gubler! I can't name the musical guest just yet, but it was pretty amazing, and I can't wait till the episode airs!

So the first time I met T-Pain a couple of years ago was at a studio in LA with Travie Mccoy and right when we become introduced, He ball checked me after that, we all headed to vegas for a rather insane weekend where they word debauchery doesn't even come close to defining what went on, anyway fast forward a couple years later and He had me work on this, his new program with Izotope, The T-Pain Effect. I'm not too sure how it works or what it really does, he's the beat maker, hit maker, not for me, I'm just the picture taker... thats the closest I'll ever get to rhyming anything...

Here's the first sneak peak at my next look book for the gals over at Cleobella. This is really one of my favorites that I've put together for them. I can't wait to get them all up and out for everyone to see.

08.16.11

Every now and then some one comes to me and says hey, if you could do anything you want for a shoot what would you do. Now this shoot wasn't exactly that, but pretty close. My friends over at Radii and I have been talking about working together for a bit and i'll be honest with you all I've been in super nerd and comic book mode. I'll admit that earlier in the month I went to comic con and that totally shifts the coolguy/geek scale way off balance.

In a strange way one of my favorite bands Rocket from the Crypt kinda helped inspire this shoot as well, its hard to explain how and why, if you're into them, you'd probably get it, if not, then you should go dust off your record player and figure it out, you'd be doing your ears a favor. I had a ton of inspirations Going back to the comic thing, for the snake gal, I used Mystique from the Xmen movies as a big inspiration and for the cheetah gal, I really have to admit it was one of those boyhood fantasies to basically make her a real life Cheetara from the Thundercats and of course my favorite and the first rendition of
Catwoman, the 1960's Julie Newmar one.

I'm sure some people out there might be bummed about me going a little out there on this one, but to quote one of the greatest movies ever, Spinal Tap,

Ian Faith: They're not gonna release the album... because they have decided that the cover is sexist.
Nigel Tufnel: Well, so what? What's wrong with bein' sexy?

As promised, here's the rest of my shoot for Celine Ouaknine's line Cece L'amour. It was a pretty great shoot to put together, easily one of my favorites so far this year.

I combined a lot of various movie references and techniques together for this one. Theres alot of Douglas Sirk inspiration in this one and of course a loose Lolita as well. Well maybe more like Douglas' spirit, but lit with the color more like Todd Haynes' Far from Heaven, the Douglas Sirk homage.

My living room also makes a guest appearance in this one as it should, its really one of my favorite places. I do think I may have to lay off shooting there for a while, considering I also shot the Gym Class Heroes there as well, but I suppose I could always use that as an excuse to redecorate, anyway i'm really looking forward to seeing what Celine and I can do together in the future for the next round of Cece L'amour!

Here's the cover image for the LRG Fall 2011 look book I did for them in San Francisco. It features Mayer Hawthone, Bilal, Chris Grenier, Tom Asta, Felipe Gustavo, Jackson Curtain, and Karl Watson. This was really one of the most fun trips I've had in the bay for a long time.

I don't really have much to say about this, at least on the internet anyway. Although in person, I probably couldn't stop talking about my friend. He drove, pushed, and enabled me to go further and work harder than I ever thought I could. I'm going to miss you my friend, I hope that I can make you proud.

I recently did this shoot with my friend and long time collaborator Jonas Bevacqua for Hypebeast. There isn't much to write about this one that you can't see in the picture,
You can read the full write up here.

The resemblance is uncanny...

Here's a little preview of my shoot for one of the nicest guys in the industry, Mr. Devin Carlson and his Fremont Apparel Co. . This shoot was really amazing not only from the photos, but there's a rather amazing story that goes along with it which includes, two tow trucks, hillbillies, a nosey waitress, and lots of tacos.

I've never really been one to say no. This really isn't something I should ever write on something as public as a blog, but its true. I generally game for anything, as long as it doesn't harm anyone, or cost alot of money (apparently I am also inherently cheap). I was recently asked by my friend Amber whom I met on a photoshoot for the retail chain Beachworks if I would be interested in being interviewed for an article. Me being me, instantly thought, well this can't be right, I'm really not that interesting or particularly charming, so really she must be just hitting on me. So again me being me, I decided if shes going to play coy with me, I'll say all manner of crazy things for her " interview". Well, I guess me being me, as usual I was wrong. She actually was writing and interview, completely not interested in me (aside from professional of course!) and she was actually married (to a guy that is so cool, he kind of makes me want to be her). So once again I strike out in the babe dept.

Among all the nonsense I was spattering out, Amber was able to piece together a coherent story, that the guys at Blisss Magazine were willing to run. They also did a bit in the mag about my good friends Joe and Tiana Bard of Banzai Bowls about their new baby Kaia! I've also got a few photos that appeared in a couple of ads in the mag as well which never hurts. Things like this are always crazy to me and really flattering. I can't believe they wrote my name so big its a little embarrassing

Here are some of the first teaser images as well as a the behind the scenes video that I did for Creative Recreation not too long ago. Seeing all of this almost makes me forget that we are in the middle of winter. I really need to get back there ASAP!
